Poetto is the main beach of Cagliari City and at 6km is also one of the longest in Sardinia, it hosts many exclusive properties, restaurants, bars, a small funfair and a small marina.
It is only 10-minute drive away from the city centre making it an ideal location for those who love city life right on the beach. White sand and clear blue water make it very popular with Calgarians.
Along its length you will find plenty of restaurants and bars with regular music and arts events held throughout the year, it is also mostly pedestrianised so great for those who like to cycle or roller skate or just take run or walk off a large Italian meal.
The view from Poetto beach is dominated by the Devil’s Saddle (Sella del Diavolo) which is a large prominent rock formation that looks like the shape of a horse saddle, hence the name. There are also hiking paths you can take along this hill for an amazing view like the photo here.
Below this is a Marina named “Marina Piccola” which can accomodate mainly small pleasure craft and where you can hire small electrically powered boats from https://www.e-boatsardinia.com for an eco-friendly trip around the Devil’s Saddle.
Behind Poetto beach you will find two salt lakes called “Stagno di Molentargius and Stagno di Quartu” which attract year-round flocks of flamingos and other nature, there is a nature park (Molentargius park) that you can access to get close up.
Poetto can be quite windy and this attracts lots of kite surfers and sailers to the area, it hosts numerus sailing and kite surfing events throughout the year due to the areas consistent and predictable wind.
